Sober at Work?

a handful of colorful pills

As a dancer, you don't need unrealistic, self-righteous shit. You don't need someone to judge you wherever you're at in your journey. If you consume any substances to get by, I don't blame you for it and I've been there too. But remaining sober at work results in better paydays and a safer environment for you. This isn't just about drugs, it's about alcohol too.

Sober Stripper Benefits

  • Better Awareness

Awareness is key as an entertainer. How can you spot opportunities if you don't know what is going on around you? How can you see the new customers coming in through the door if you're tipsy and wobbling?

  • Tighter game- not getting sloppy

You think you're cuter and funnier when you're drunk but you're wrong. You're sounding worse the drunker you get and think you're sounding better. A sober mind keeps a tight game. Stay attentive to your customer to give them their best experience.

  • Drinks don't pay the bills

Sitting around with a customer who's shelling out $9 every half hour for your next cocktail is not how you pay your rent. A drink is not a tip. A drink is not sufficient to buy your time or your companionship. Is that how cheap the experience you're selling is? A drink can keep you performing and you leave work with a buzz and no cash. It's not going to cut it.

  • Not letting customers/clubs take advantage of your time

Alcohol is a fake relaxant, with the illusion that it's easing your mind and body. The more "loose" you get the more you lose track of time and sink into that tipsy feeling. How many dances did you do? You don't even know because you were drunk. Are you sure the club didn't cheat you? How long have you been with this customer not getting paid? You don't know because you weren't paying attention.

  • Uphold a she-means-business reputation

Upholding a sober reputation with management works in your favor. In the event of an argument or altercation, you're more likely to believed. Is that always fair? No, but it's the way it is. They will trust you more.

  • Improved health & recovery time

You are a physical performer being judged on your looks and fitness. The better you look and the better you perform, the more money you get. This job can hurt you and strain you with daily aches and pains. Staying healthy means you can be like the energizer bunny and go, go, go....get that bag.

  • Maintain consistency

Consistency is the key to success. If you're hungover you're less likely to show up tomorrow.

I can't tell you what to do, and I don't want to either. But I can show you the road that will lead you to a better place than the one you could end up in. I can tell you about the women over the years who have destroyed their minds, bodies, and spirits through vicious alcohol addictions, and wasted their fleeting years in this industry only to be chewed up and dumped out with nothing to show for it. The truth about this life is that it is merciless and ugly. The truth is that on the other sides of the tiny tightrope of glamor is a pit of destruction waiting to claim you. To run this life to success you have to run your game tight and stay tight. It's boring in here, you just want to feel good, just one drink, just one drink will help you deal with this customer that you're repulsed by. Just one....don't do it.
